Lego Minifigure Crayons: Make Your Own at Home!

How cute are these?! I am a fan of DIY blogs and websites - but I consider myself pretty crafty myself. Here is one of my simple, but favorite items at the moment! Homemade Lego Minifigure Crayons! I have yet to come across a child that does not pick it up and say "Cool!" First - you have to find the silicone mold. I bought my own on amazon, but I have seen them on ebay as well. It can also be called a Lego Minifigure Ice Cube Tray, but just MAKE SURE it is silicone... unless you want to pull your hair out :) See below:
Next, buy a box of Crayola crayons. I've worked with a few different brands trying to save money, but to be completely honest the best result comes from the Crayola brand. You do however have some flexibility with that brand. The glitter crayons work as well! 1st step: Take the paper off the crayons. The best way I have found to do this is to take a paring knife and cut a line down the side, then peel it off trying to remove all the glue and pieces as you go.
2: Preheat oven to 200 degrees F. Break the crayons into little pieces, and place into the mold.
3: Place in oven on a cookie sheet, at 200 F for 20 minutes. Remove carefully when done, remember it will be LIQUID.
4: Cool crayons. You can do this on the counter at room temperature, or place in the refrigerator. I have not found much of a difference, but the counter is sooo much easier. This usually takes about 20 minutes... it actually happens pretty fast. *TIP: Once out, I usually try to clean up the edges on the mold with a knife. Much easier than when it is hardened. 5: Carefully remove the crayons from the mold. And voila!! Adorable colorful men!!
Go ahead - try it out!! It's so easy! A great birthday present, or craft idea to do with the kids! Once you have the mold, you can make Lego Minifig Jello, ice cubes, candy, chocolate... let your imagination go wild. There are also Lego Brick molds out there! If you try it out, write me and let me know how it goes. ENJOY - and thanks for reading. Be sure to check out my easy shop: www.bumblebelle.etsy.com Have a great day!! Bumble.belle
